What this website collects.
This page covers the website at loams.dev, including the beta console and sign-in. The Loams software you run (the engine, the CLI, the Compose stack, the SDKs and Loams Desktop) has its own privacy policy: it sends no telemetry or analytics anywhere.
Analytics: Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity, a product of Microsoft Corporation, to understand how people use the public pages: which pages they read, where they click, how far they scroll and where the site gets in their way. Clarity records heatmaps and session replays (a reconstruction of mouse movement, clicks and scrolling on a page). We also send a small set of named events, such as a click on a call to action, a copied command or a docs search; the full list is in the site's repository (docs/analytics.md).
- What is masked. Clarity masks everything typed into an input. The sign-in and sign-up pages are masked entirely.
- Where Clarity never runs. The beta console (
/console): the Clarity script is not loaded there at all. - What we never send. Emails, names, search text, API keys or tokens. For signed-in beta users we send only a one-way hash of the account id, so visits can be grouped without saying who you are.
- Cookies. With your consent, Clarity sets first-party cookies (
_clck, which keeps a random visitor id for up to a year, and_clsk, which joins page views into one session for a day) and Microsoft may set its own cookies such asMUID. We tell Clarity that advertising storage is denied, so nothing is shared with Microsoft Advertising. - Retention. Microsoft keeps Clarity session data for 30 days, and sessions we explicitly mark as favourites for up to 13 months. Heatmaps are built from the same data.
- Who processes it. Microsoft processes Clarity data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement and the Clarity terms.
Your choice
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (or we can't tell where you are), Clarity does not load until you choose Accept on the banner. Elsewhere it loads by default. Either way you can change your mind at any time: rejecting tells Clarity to erase its cookies and stop. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage.
To find out whether you need to opt in, your browser asks our server once a week. The server answers with yes or no from the country Cloudflare sees for your request; it stores nothing.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested path) to serve and protect the site, and we see aggregate request logs for the few pages that run on a server. There is no other tracking, no advertising and no error-reporting service.
Beta sign-in
Signing in uses the Loams ID service at auth.loams.dev, which stores your account (email address, name, credentials or the identity provider you sign in with). The site keeps an encrypted session cookie while you are signed in, and a flag in local storage that this browser has used the console.
